As a travel blogger, I’m always on the lookout for unique attractions that will captivate my readers. And, let me tell you, Paramount Studios in Los Angeles is one such gem that deserves to be shared with the world.

A Brief History of Paramount Studios

Located in the heart of Hollywood, Paramount Studios has been a beacon of cinematic excellence since 1912 when it was founded by Adolph Zukor. With a rich history spanning over 100 years, this iconic studio has produced some of the most memorable films in cinema history, including Psycho, Grease, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, The Godfather, Star Trek, King Kong, and Happy Days.

Getting to Paramount Studios

Located on Melrose Avenue in the Hollywood neighborhood, Paramount Studios is easily accessible on foot from the Hollywood Forever Cemetery (650 m, 8 min) and the Hollywood Palladium (2 km, 25 min). You can also reach the studio by bus or take the Metro B Line (Red) from Hollywood/Vine Station.

Hours and Prices

The Paramount Studios can only be visited through guided tours. There are two tours to choose from: the Studio Tour and the VIP Tour! The duration of the Studio Tour is 2 hours, while the VIP Tour lasts approximately 4.5 hours.

  • Studio Tour Schedule: Morning tours start between 9:30 am and 11:30 am, and afternoon tours between 12 pm and 3:30 pm.
  • VIP Tour Schedule: The VIP Tour is less frequent, with only two daily schedules, one at 9:30 am and one at 1 pm.
  • Ticket Prices: Studio Tour – $58 (€49.7) / VIP Tour – $178 (€152.6)

Tours, Guided Visits, and Online Tickets

As anticipated, the Paramount Studios can only be visited through guided tours. You will be able to visit a true movie set in operation, discover the world behind the scenes, and if you’re lucky, meet some actors on set! However, please note that it’s not like an amusement park like Universal Studios Hollywood, here you won’t be free to move around but will have to stay with the vehicle and, in some areas, are also strictly forbidden to take photos!

Now let’s look at more details about what includes the two available tours: Studio Tour and VIP Tour.

Studio Tour

The Studio Tour is the shortest tour offered by Paramount Studios. It lasts approximately 2 hours during which you will visit some of the most iconic locations, including Bronson Gate, New York Street Backlot, or even the Prop Warehouse where all set props and costumes used during filming are stored.

During this 2-hour tour, a maximum of 7 people can participate, and you’ll have the chance to see some of the most famous movie sets, as well as visit some areas like the Bronson Gate. You’ll also get an introduction to the world behind the scenes by a guide who will tell you interesting anecdotes and curiosities about the studios and the set cinematography.

During the entire 2 hours, you’ll have the chance to meet actors on set!

Visit Paramount Studios, Los Angeles: How to Get There, Prices And Advice

The VIP Tour is the second tour offered by Paramount Studios. At a higher cost, it lasts approximately 4.5 hours and is perfect for those who love movies and want to know everything about behind-the-scenes! Recommended especially if you stop in Los Angeles for a few days, as it requires half a day!

In addition to visiting the locations and areas already included in the Studio Tour, with the VIP Tour you’ll have access to some special perks! You will be able to visit certain areas that are usually closed off during the Studio Tour, access archives, and production facilities of the Backlot. But that’s not all: the ticket includes a gourmet appetizer, a 15% discount at the shop, parking costs (if you arrive by car), and a souvenir photo!

Useful Tips for Visiting the Attraction

Brief Historical Notes, Curiosities, and Practical Information

Paramount Studios have a history of over 100 years! The Paramount Pictures was founded in 1912 by Adolph Zukor. The iconic logo was created shortly after by entrepreneur W.W. Hodkinson. From then on, these studios stood out in the world of cinema: the first Oscar arrived in 1927 with the silent film Wings. From then on, one success followed another: they belong to Paramount some of the most famous films like Psycho, Grease, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, The Godfather, Star Trek, King Kong and the TV series Happy Days.

In the ’90s they produced some of the most iconic films, such as Forrest Gump, Braveheart, and Titanic (co-produced with 20th Century Fox) until arriving in 2009 when one of the films with the highest box office revenue was made, Avatar!

Today, Paramount Studios spread over approximately 26 acres, with 30 operational sets! If you visit Los Angeles and are fans of movies, they cannot be missed!
